Among Aqua Soil series essential for the substrate of Nature Aquarium, Amazonia is most effective in promoting the growth of aquatic plants and most aquatic plants grow healthy and beautifully with this soil. On the other hand, Amazonia is a substrate material having a strong character and certain techniques are required to use it.
Amazonia is substrate material, rich in organic acid and nutrients, promoting the growth of aquatic plant roots. By combining with Power Sand, it becomes the ideal substrate for plants. Powder type is used for small size aquarium or for spreading lightly over the normal type Amazonia.
Soil can cause water cloudiness especially when there are no plants in the tank. A 50% water change is recommended in 2-3 days after Amazonia soil gets introduced into the tank.

The Power Sand is a vital part of the ADA Substrate System that is famous the world over. Utilizing just the Amazonia Soils is only ½ of the method of success. With ADA Power Sand, the substrate has a maximum potential for water and nutrient circulation which carries oxygen to stimulate bacterial activity and the development of the plant roots. This is the ideal condition of a healthy substrate, in order to establish a balanced ecosystem.
In other soils or substrates, persistent problems occur with the passage of time. Water circulation is obstructed with buildup and anaerobic activity starts to occur, thus rotting the roots of the plants. How do I calculate the quantity of Soil or Soil Powder needed for my tank?
Measure your tank’s length and width in cm, for example, 90 x 60 cm.
Consider the thickness of the bottom layer you want, e.g. 8 cm. Make the layer thicker towards the rear wall for a great visual effect!
The calculation to do is length x width x layer divided by 1000.
In our example, 90 x 60 x 8/1000 = 43,2 L Soil/Soil Powder needed.
